Background of the study

Personalized email marketing has become an essential strategy for driving conversion rates in the highly competitive e-commerce landscape. In Port Harcourt, Nigeria, e-commerce platforms are leveraging sophisticated data analytics to segment their customer base and deliver tailored email content that meets individual consumer needs. By using personalized recommendations, dynamic content, and targeted offers, these platforms can significantly enhance customer engagement and encourage repeat purchases (Okafor, 2023). Personalized email campaigns provide an opportunity for direct communication with consumers, offering value through exclusive discounts, product suggestions, and timely updates. This direct line of communication not only improves the user experience but also builds trust and loyalty among customers. However, challenges such as data privacy concerns, email deliverability issues, and content fatigue can impede the effectiveness of these campaigns. This study investigates the impact of personalized email marketing on conversion rates, exploring how targeted email strategies can influence purchase decisions and drive revenue growth for an e-commerce platform. The goal is to provide actionable insights into optimizing personalized email content for higher conversion and customer retention (Afolabi, 2024).

 

Statement of the problem

E-commerce platforms in Port Harcourt struggle with converting personalized email campaigns into high conversion rates due to challenges like data privacy concerns, inconsistent email deliverability, and audience fatigue from repetitive content. These issues result in a gap between the potential benefits of personalized emails and actual sales outcomes. This study aims to identify the barriers hindering effective personalized email marketing and propose solutions to optimize content, enhance segmentation accuracy, and improve overall campaign performance (Okafor, 2023).

The research contributes practical recommendations for overcoming campaign challenges and maximizing ROI in digital marketing (Afolabi, 2024).
